Friday and Nothing's Done
Okay, a little more than nothing has been accomplished today. Have you ever had a day where the phone rings before you get the chance to get off of the call you're already on again and again? That's what's happening today. Not a bad thing when all the news is good news, which is the case today, but it sure does stop the "to do" list from getting done.
I did study a bit more on blog stuff today and I really didn't learn a whole heck of a lot that I hadn't figured out already.
Anyway, I started experimenting with painting in Photoshop recently. I've learned so far that while a person CAN use Photoshop as a lovely painting tool just like a pencil or paintbrush, there is an enormous bit of a learning curve to make it intuitive.
By intuitive I mean like when you pick up a pencil you basically know what to expect if you start drawing with it as far as the pencil's behavior because you've been drawing in one way or another with it, even if it was just in the form of writing, for basically your entire life.

Enter the drawing tablet and the gobs of brushes and options in Photoshop and the tablet. I think it's great to learn about everything you can (thus my studying all I can about blogs at the moment when it really is a simple subject), but ultimately drawing and painting is called an art form for a reason. You have to develop a very personal instinct with the tools you work with and your ability to translate what you see (either in life or in your head) onto your medium of choice. That's all good and well, but when you get into the labyrinth of Photoshop and a tablet, woe is it a new world. It's super fun, but seriously, it's way new and different to me and I believe it will take awhile before my instinct takes over and the nagging mechanical feeling I have each time I paint a stroke subsides.
All this being what it is, above is one of my first experiments with a tablet making a sphere with shading.

Wow.. you sound so cerebral... just like a teacher. I definitely don't want to sound critical, but you are sounding a lot like me..."it's all good news, but what about my to-do list?"
Vicky says I too often look for the cloud in the silver lining... we just want to be able to do it all! Can any of us Type A's ever be truly happy unless we get it all, do it all, WHEN we want it?
I don't know what you're talking about "feeling mechanical", your picture looks awesome, you silly goose! Of course, doing something new is just so intimidating... which is probably why I'm so homesick up here in Wasteland... too much new at once... transitioning from being sheltered student to worried worker, new life in new place, going from star student to struggling job-seeker. Yuck! Having doors go from all open to seemingly all shut is maddening, especially now that I realize just what a great person I am and how much I have to offer a company. The nerve of them, not recognizing my value!!
Say, have you figured out which HTML tags work in blog-world? What happens when you create a new blog, rather than just a new entry? How did you get your blog to go into your url?
How do you add "fellow bloggers"?
ok, that's it for now...

Yes, we Type A's can be truly happy without getting it all and doing it all. We just have to stand back for second, shake ourselves and remind ourselves that life is good, really good. However, saying that and actually doing it are two very different things.
Thanks for the comments about the picture. There will be more up soon. Right now I'm fighting with a flower, but I've got some other stuff I've done as exercises that I'll post soon.
Yes, transitioning from super student to worker is a bit wierd, BUT you are likely to soon be a super worker 'cause that's what's in you.
As for HTML tags in blog world, it appears that blogs are more XHTML and CSS based, but the structural tags in HTML appear to be totally fine (like H3, P and the like). I'm guessing the formatting tags (like font) would probably work as well, but using them defeats the purpose of CSS.
I got my blog into my URL by telling the blog what my URL is, where I want it to post on my server (in my case the main directory as index.html) and then whenever I want to post, I enter my FTP username and password so it can load files to my server.
"Fellow Bloggers" was added in the side bar as list items. This template came with a sidebar area for links. I changed the word "links" to "fellow bloggers" and then I changed the pre-exsisting links to the links of the folks I know that blog. I can add more if I so choose.
