A Little Organization Goes a Long Way

Yesterday, in spite of about 10 clients to do work for, I took a day and organized some of my stuff. I mainly got my class stuff in order, since that can get particularily unruly throughout the course of a semester. It is so nice to walk into an office more in order than it was the day before. About a year ago I spent a week, I believe, totally redoing everything in my office. I got a pretty good system going that stayed in order until November. I'm not sure what happened in November to cause the break in order. Maybe I reached capacity. Maybe I got busy with client work. Whatever the case, the office went to hell and fast. So yesterday was me taking care of me. And unlike last May, where I did a great job but didn't have time to get things in "perfect" order, yesterday I did get two little areas totally in order. There's not a part of me that needs to go back to those areas and do more work. The real test will be how well they hold up when I get crazy busy. I organized one area about three, maybe four weeks ago while the semester was in full swing and it is still perfect. Hmmm, maybe I am onto something. Now today I can be far more invested in my clients' interests. Sweet.
